After not being seen on WWE television since WrestleMania 42, Drew McIntyre is reportedly set to return soon.
Back in January, Drew McIntyre became Undisputed WWE Champion when he defeated Cody Rhodes in a Three Stages of Hell match to capture the title.
Drew lost the title back to Cody in March, before going on to face off against Jacob Fatu in an Unsanctioned match at WrestleMania 42, which was Drew’s most recent match in the company.
Drew took time off following WrestleMania due to filming a number of upcoming movie roles, including the upcoming Highlander reboot and the Last Druid alongside Russell Crowe.
Drew McIntyre returning to WWE following recent acting roles
In an update from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Drew is likely set to be back on WWE television soon, as most of his acting commitments are now finished.
It was also noted that McIntyre recently finished a WWE micro drama that also features Joe Hendry and Jacob Fatu.
McIntyre being away from WWE for almost 6 months will make his return to television a great moment, giving a boost to whatever brand he ends up returning on.
Drew McIntyre to return on Raw roster?
While Drew McIntyre last appeared as a member of the SmackDown brand, the main event picture on the SmackDown roster right now is stacked with many names, a lot of whom Drew has worked with a lot, namely CM Punk, Sami Zayn and Cody Rhodes.
However, McIntyre returning to the Raw brand would make for a nice change of scenery for him, and he would also be a natural fit into the ongoing main event picture on the red brand.
With the Bloodline currently running things on Monday nights once again, McIntyre’s long standing issues and history with the group would make him the perfect foil for them should WWE need more names to fill out this year’s War Games match.
McIntyre returning to Raw to form an alliance, at least temporary, with the 946 would make sense, with him looking to work with whoever possible to bring down the Bloodline for good.
There are also other exciting new faces on Raw that Drew has yet to face off against, including names like Oba Femi and Bron Breakker, that would make for fun matches and programs.
