8. Sami Zayn Pulls A Rocky In Philly
A year on from being the hottest babyface in the company along with Cody Rhodes, Sami Zayn enters this year’s WrestleMania in a far different place – with his popularity waining a bit in that time.
Chad Gable was many’s sentimental favorite to receive the shot at GUNTHER, rather than Zayn. To WWE’s credit they’ve done their best to not let the Alpha Academy leader disappear from the fold – instead aiding Zayn in his preparations for Philadelphia.
After losing clean to Bronson Reed on Raw last week and only winning by DQ in their rematch, Zayn isn’t exactly heading into Mania with confidence, but that’s what would make his victory at WrestleMania that much more of a shock.
Given that Mania takes place in the home of Rocky, it seems appropriate for the underdog Zayn to come out on top against the dominating champion. That is if they’re retelling Rocky II. If it’s Rocky I expect Zayn to put up a valiant effort, but fall short.
