WWE
With WWE Crown Jewel taking place on November 7, there are multiple absent stars who could make the trip to Saudi Arabia for the PLE.
A recent attack in Saudi Arabia has seen WWE Crown Jewel become a ‘big topic of conversation‘ behind the scenes, although the event is still scheduled to take place at the time of writing.
WWE Crown Jewel, however it manifests, serves as a major opportunity for the return of a number of absent stars:
Drew McIntyre
Last seen suffering a loss to Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania 42 in April this year, Drew McIntyre’s time away from the ring has seen him filming for the upcoming Highlander reboot.
Although a return date is yet to be set, having such a moment be a surprise at Crown Jewel, setting the course of his future on the PLE, would be an ideal opportunity, particularly since, in recent comments, Drew McIntyre has stated, “WWE is my home.”
Seth Rollins
Last seen on screen at SummerSlam, Seth Rollins lost to World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns, with a post-match show of respect between both stars.
Rollins may have been absent from television, but he has competed at house shows and an untelevised dark match at SmackDown on October 9 that saw him team with LA Knight and Solo Sikoa in a loss to 946.
With Roman Reigns advertised for Crown Jewel and facing growing antagonism from the 946, perhaps this will mark an opportunity for Seth Rollins to act as the shield for The Bloodline, particularly ahead of Survivor Series: WarGames in November.
Street Profits
The Street Profits lost the World Tag Team Championship to The Vision and have been absent from WWE Raw since.
With the 100-day mark approaching under Austin Theory and Bron Breakker’s WWE World Tag Team Championship reign approaching, Crown Jewel would be a perfect stop to test The Vision further, with a return for Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford seeing them as ideal opponents.
Jordynne Grace
Last seen competing on WWE Main Event back in June, Jordynne Grace’s absence from screens has seen recent speculation that a new tag team will be formed with Ivy Nile.
Iron Built, assuming that is the tag team name, would make quite the impact on WWE television, with both stars being physical specimens in their own right.
With the Women’s Tag Team Championship currently in the hands of Alexa Bliss & Tatum Paxley, seeing it defended at Crown Jewel makes sense, although time is short to build Grace and Nile as a legitimate threat. That said, a multi-woman tag team match to either determine the number one contenders or for the title itself would be a strong way to introduce Iron Built and mark the return of Grace.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder
Whether it’s outside projects, personal issues, recovery from injury or no creative plans, WWE stars are occasionally absent from television for a multitude of reasons.
For some, the absence leads to greater anticipation for an in-ring return, particularly when that star has been used in prominent positions prior to their hiatus. For others, it’s an opportunity to freshen up their presentation, reintroducing them to the audience in a new way that could pay dividends for their success.
