With tonight’s WWE SmackDown ending in chaos with multiple run-ins, there was even more to be revealed after the show went off the air.
After The Vision created chaos in the main event match between Bron Breakker and Trick Williams on tonight’s WWE SmackDown (October 9, 2026), there was a run-in that wasn’t caught by TV cameras.
Cody Rhodes makes the save

Interestingly, after the show went off the air, it would go on to be Cody Rhodes to make the save on behalf of the babyfaces, bringing a steel chair with him.
Running to the ring to break up the mauling at the hands of The Vision, Cody brought his own weapon proving that he meant business.
Hitting Bronson Reed with a chair to the back before knocking down Austin Theory with a Cross Rhodes, it would be Cody that ended up breaking up The Vision’s beat-down of the babyfaces.
Going on to speak to the crowd, Rhodes would shout out those left in the ring including PENTA, Je’Von Evans, Trick Williams and Lil Yatchy, noting that they were the future of the business.
Why does it matter?

While it is common for there to be a “go-home” angle that occurs after the cameras stop rolling in professional wrestling, sending fans home enthusiastic even if the triumph wasn’t captured on screen – this particular moment is interesting.
With Money in the Bank 2026 fast approaching this weekend, there is certainly something to be said for Rhodes taking the time to bolster an in-ring segment with 1/2 of the matches participants in Je’Von Evans, PENTA and Trick Williams.
Bringing about not only a moment of joy for the fans in attendance but also directly commenting on the prospects of the future being bright, Rhodes is fulfilling an important industry duty as a veteran.
Also completely busting the notions of all of this writer’s past pitches for why “Dark Cody” could totally work, then sadly there would be a distinct (even if temporary) lack of wholesome moments to send the crowd home happy after Rhodes invited a young fan into the ring to be gifted a weight belt amongst the top WWE stars.
Money in the Bank 2026 feels wide open

While of course there are favorites to win the upcoming WWE Money in the Bank 2026 titular matches, it does seem as though there is a case to be made why every man or woman competing could very well capture the briefcase.
With the PLE coming up on October 10 in New Orleans, the eventual winners remain a mystery but one thing fans may rest assured – there won’t be any cash-in shenanigans in terms of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Already announced as opening the show, the OTC Roman Reigns defending his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against LA Knight.
