WWE Facts, Rumors & Opinions #2

WWE Stars Want Out

Fact:  Jon Moxley claimed working for WWE made him feel sick on Chris Jericho’s Talk is Jericho Podcast.

Rumor:  Several WWE stars have asked for their release from the company.  The rumored list includes the Revival, Sasha Banks, Harper, Mike and Maria Kanellis, and a few others.

Opinion:  If the recent interviews of Moxley and Dustin Rhodes are to be believed, why would any wrestler with a creative mindset and passion for the business want to stay?

Obviously, when WWE was the only company paying massive paychecks, guys went there to retire.  Now, AEW seems to be able to come close to matching those salaries, but also seems to be on track to allowing the creative freedom many wrestlers are seeking.

Guys and gals who get into this business generally have an idea of the character they want to be.  With years of tweaking and honing the craft, they have a good idea of who they are and how their character would respond to current situations.

WWE has seemingly taken this away from wrestlers.  Their superstars are expected to become a character, deliver scripts, and react in specific ways that aren’t natural to them.  What we wind up with is non-passionate performances in large doses.

AEW doesn’t have a television show yet, but Double or Nothing appears to be a huge success.  Competition is great for business.  WWE hasn’t had legitimate competition in a long time.

Can AEW actually compete?  We don’t know for sure yet, but it early indicators are definitely pointing to yes.
