For four years in a row, LA Knight has featured at WWE Money in the Bank, with his match against Roman Reigns continuing a streak.

The October 11 edition of WWE Money in the Bank saw LA Knight challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship in the opening match of the PLE.

Despite coming close to reaching the top of the mountain, the summit remained stubbornly out of reach for LA Knight, something that he has experienced previously at Money in the Bank:

WWE Money in the Bank 2023

Having qualified with a victory over Montez Ford, LA Knight would enter the Money in the Bank ladder match in July 2023, with Butch, Logan Paul, Ricochet, Santos Escobar, Damian Priest, and Shinsuke Nakamura also competing for the briefcase.

It would be Damian Priest who would score the win, with LA Knight being on the receiving end of positive fan reaction during the match.

Money in the Bank 2024

July 2024 saw LA Knight once again in the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match, having qualified the month prior with a win over Logan Paul and Santos Escobar.

For the Toronto PLE, it would be Drew McIntyre who would ascend, overcoming Knight, Andrade, Carmelo Hayes, Chad Gable and Jey Uso.

Money in the Bank 2025

His third Money in the Bank appearance brought an end to a trilogy for LA Knight, although not to the losing streak attached to his ladder match run.

Andrade, El Grande Americano, Penta, and Solo Sikoa would all join LA Knight in the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match, with Seth Rollins being the victor.

It was Rollins who prevented Knight from claiming the briefcase in a match that also saw Jacob Fatu stop Solo Sikoa from climbing the ladder.

The World Heavyweight Championship match

For the first time, LA Knight wasn’t in the ladder match, facing Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Their rivalry has been a bitter one over the past months, with Knight resorting to calling Reigns an “industry plant” and mocking the star’s teeth, while criticizing the way The OTC has been pushed.

Unfortunately for Knight, despite coming close to victory, it would be Reigns who would retain the title.

The Knight issue for WWE creative

LA Knight has been a popular star among WWE fans for quite some time now, yet something is preventing him from getting over the line when it comes to a top championship.

It’s a difficult situation to witness, with the drama of the chase for a championship and becoming a top star being an entertaining and oft-used trope, but not getting the job done robs some of that enjoyment.

Despite the obvious quality of the star, there may come a point where the fans just stop caring, not because LA Knight isn’t the star they recognize him to be, but because it appears WWE don’t.
