WWE Money in the Bank saw Roman Reigns retain the World Heavyweight Championship, with later comments giving insight into his mindset.
The October 10 edition of WWE Money in the Bank opened with Roman Reigns successfully defending the World Heavyweight Championship against LA Knight.
With the threat of the 946 to The Bloodline and a challenge from Oba Femi now brewing, The OTC spoke about all that is happening backstage, revealing more about Reigns and what he is currently thinking:
The Money in the Bank match
LA Knight came close to defeating Roman Reigns, but wasn’t able to get the job done at Money in the Bank.
In backstage comments, Cathy Kelley would ask Reigns where his focus is after tonight, with The OTC reflecting on the challenge he had faced from LA Knight, saying his opponent “came in there and he backed it up” after running his mouth and looking at getting “back to a place of health”.
“Everybody coming after” The OTC
There’s no doubt that Reigns has a number of issues to address, be it the threat of the 946, Oba Femi’s challenge, or any of the stars who threaten his reign as World Heavyweight Champion.
Reigns would comment on being the target and “the envy and the jealousy” that he can feel backstage due to his dominance as World Heavyweight Champion.
The “second prize” championship
Reigns would declare that holding the World Heavyweight Championship had elevated the “second prize” title to a more prestigious and coveted standing.
“No More Running”
The 946 is not the only threat that Reigns is facing, with Royce Keys making it clear that he’s coming for The OTC and the gold.
Oba Femi would also call out Reigns, warning that there is “no more running” for the champion in comments made after the show.
The Bloodline
Attacks, abductions and attempted vehicular homicide: The Bloodline have been in for quite the time recently, all thanks to the 946.
During his return on the recent episode of WWE Raw, Reigns’ concern was less with the well-being of his family and more with the hierarchy of The Bloodline itself, criticizing The Usos for letting Jacob Fatu give orders and bringing Solo Sikoa back into the fold.
In post-show comments, Reigns would call family “a priority”, but go on to say that the title is his “number one right now”.
He wouldn’t stop there, either, saying “I’m always gonna want to help mine, and if I get a chance, I will” before reiterating that the World Heavyweight Championship is his focus.
Further isolating The OTC
The Bloodline being just “a priority” is very telling, with Reigns viewing the World Heavyweight Championship above his own family.
Eventually, the avarice of Roman Reigns will be exposed by those closer to him, despite many of them having experienced it over time since the formation of The Bloodline.
At some point, The Usos and Jacob Fatu will realize what this all means and will address it accordingly, but when that will happen remains to be seen.
