Roman Reigns Vs. LA Knight at WWE Money In The Bank: Time to the pull the trigger?

October 10 sees Roman Reigns defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against LA Knight at Money in the Bank.

Over the past few weeks, Knight has unleashed his aggression on Roman Reigns, with the pair having not faced each other in singles action since Crown Jewel in November 2023, when the Tribal Chief retained the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Knight has staked his claim for the Money in the Bank match on a recent episode of WWE Raw, making it clear that he sees himself as the future World Heavyweight Champion.

With the WWE PLE mere weeks away, will creative finally pull the trigger on a top title reign for the popular star?

A Brutal Match Awaits

Following a recent attack, Roman Reigns made his intentions quite clear when he accepted LA Knight’s challenge, saying:

“I’m gonna whoop his bitch ass.”

While the match may not be a Tribal Combat match, there’s little doubt that Reigns will deliver on his promise as he seeks to humble the challenger.

Knight made a point of doubting Reigns’ ability to beat him one-on-one, without help from The Bloodline, and that could play into the downfall of the current World Heavyweight Champion.

Pulling The Trigger

LA Knight has seen his fair share of popularity from WWE fans over the years and survived a period as Max Dupri after returning the company in 2021.

For any star, there’s a point where popularity will eventually wane, particularly if they can’t get over the line when it comes to boasts of being a championship or top star contender. For WWE creative, now would be the time to pull the trigger on LA Knight, seeing him leave Money in the Bank as the World Heavyweight Champion.

The Uncertainty Of Roman Reigns

Having Reigns as a champion arguably adds prestige to whatever title he is holding, yet there’s something far more interesting in seeing The OTC deal with his loss, particularly when the threat of the 946 (Royce Keys, Lucien Price & Bronco Nima) is taken into account.

The 946 have their sights set on The Bloodline, and it would make sense for that feud to take fans through to WWE Survivor Series: WarGame on November 28. It would also make sense for Reigns to not have the World Heavyweight Championship at that point, with the loss weighing not only weighing on his confidence, but that of The Usos and Jacob Fatu.

Shuffling The Top Of The WWE Card

Speaking at the SummerSlam post-show press conference, Triple H addressed ‘the same wrestlers’ holding the top spots on the card, saying:

“We’re in a period where there’s a lot of top performers in top spots that have over time earned those spots, are selling tickets, and are really popular. So you really have to do something.

“The narrative of ‘it’s my turn’, ‘I’ve been here for a while, it’s my turn’. There are no turns in this shit, that’s not how it works. You earn the spot.”

When it comes to earning the spot, LA Knight has been a fine example of a star who has managed that and someone that Triple H should embrace when it comes to proving his own point.

LA Knight as World Heavyweight Champion would open up opportunities for meaningful feuds with other members of the top card and serve as a potential catalyst for other popular stars to move up.
