Just when it seemed like tag team wrestling in WWE couldn’t feel less important than it did in 2025, the company has outdone itself this year.
Much like last year, SmackDown has been done a better job with showcasing tag team wrestling and its tag champions than Raw, but that is certainly not a high bar.
While WWE did release several tag teams earlier this year, one way to help turn things around would be the formation of some new duos, or perhaps even signing names from the free agent market.
Here are two new WWE tag teams to potentially debut soon.
Ivy Nile & Jordynne Grace
Ivy Nile and Jordynne Grace are two of WWE’s most underused talents
When it comes to athleticism and raw power, Ivy Nile and Jordynne Grace are among the most impressive talents WWE has on their roster. Yet, that hasn’t translated to success as of yet in their respective WWE careers.
Grace is much newer to WWE than Nile, but arrived as an exciting free agent signing after finishing up with TNA in early 2025. Fans expected her to be given a significant push when she debuted on the main roster one year later, however, it has now been almost five months since she’s been seen on SmackDown.
Like Grace, Nile has been away from her own brand for most of 2026, and has instead become a regular on WWE Main Event. However, it was reported by Fightful that WWE had plans for a change in her creative direction coming in the near future.
A follow up from False Finish has seemingly revealed what this change could be, as internal pitches have reportedly been made in WWE for Grace and Nile to be reintroduced as a tag team. Given how little they’ve been featured on TV as singles stars, a tag team would certainly be the best way to turn their fortunes around and get them back involved on either Raw or SmackDown.
The Acclaimed (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens)
The Acclaimed held the AEW World Tag Team Championships for 140 days back in 2022/2023.
October could be a significant month for talent turnover, as it has not only been reported that several main roster WWE contracts could be expiring that month, but we also know of two former AEW champions who could be set to depart the company.
Fightful reported that former AEW World Tag Team Champions Max Caster and Anthony Bowens both have contracts due to come up in October, and it’s currently unclear whether AEW are in negotiations to extend their deals, or whether they’ll depart the company.
WWE are said to have “at least some” interest in signing Bowens according to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, but there has been no word on whether they have their eyes on Caster as well.
While they’ve been split up for some time now, Bowens and Caster were once one of AEW’s most popular acts, and a true homegrown success story for the company in its early years. With WWE in need of new teams, they could certainly do a lot worse than bringing in The Acclaimed.
