WWE Raw vs. SmackDown #11 – July 2 & 3

Storyline Progression/Pay-per-view Build

In this section, we have a look at everything that happened on both shows that achieved something in terms of progressing storylines or building some interest for Extreme Rules.

Raw

There wasn’t enough Roman Reigns on this show

As he’s done pretty much every show since WrestleMania 34, Roman Reigns came to the ring and had a moan.

This time he was moaning about himself and Bobby Lashley losing to the Revival. This is despite Reigns being the one that was pinned.

WWE Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre came out since Reigns saved Seth Rollins from their beat-down at the end of last week’s show.

They challenged the ‘Big Dog’ to a fight and he happily obliged.

Of course, the numbers game was to the advantage of Ziggler and McIntyre, so this time it was Rollins who saved his former Shield “brother.”

Despite already being scheduled to team with Lashley against the Revival again, Reigns demanded a tag team match with Rollins against the men they’d just encountered. Angle accepted.

We just can’t get enough of him, can we?

Shortly after this, Lashley found Reigns backstage and called him an “egomaniac.”

As covered in the ‘Quality of Matches’ section, Reigns was attacked by the Revival during his match against Ziggler and McIntyre.

This soon became a four-on-two beat-down as Rollins suffered a ZigZag/Claymore combo and Dash and Dawson landed a Shatter Machine on Reigns.

The ‘Top Guys’ didn’t stop there though as they also ambushed the ‘Guy’ during their match. Lashley simply walked away and soon later it was confirmed that Reigns and Lashley will have a match against each other at Extreme Rules.

Enter the cringe-fest

Sasha Banks and Bayley attended counseling.

The only good thing about this was that Dr. Shelby was back.

The entire thing was cringe-worthy and they basically just argued and moaned at each other.

Big Cass vs. Daniel Bryan again?

Constable Baron Corbin went to the ring to explain why he attacked Finn Bálor last week, claiming it was all the Irishman’s fault.

Bálor then came out and made some really bad jokes about Corbin that don’t even bear repeating they’re that bad.

Corbin claimed that Bálor was just annoyed because big guys (like Corbin) get paid more than small guys (like Bálor). That is factually incorrect as Bálor does, in fact, earn more than the Constable.

The ‘Lone Wolf’ continued with the size-based insults before striking Bálor, only to suffer a Slingblade and run away himself.

“No Way, Jose”

Much like last week, No Way Jose and Mojo Rawley were set for a match.

Also much like last week, Rawley declined, essentially because Jose is a big goof. Rawley then attacked Jose and one of the conga line members. Sadly, it wasn’t another cheeseburger.

Finally an Extreme Rules match at Extreme Rules

The Extreme Rules stipulation has finally been added to a match at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view event, as Nia Jax announced that her match for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship against Alexa Bliss will be contested under no disqualification rules.

Kevin Owens spends the night absolutely pooing himself and then gets tipped over in a toilet

Kevin Owens spent the night wearing a Baron Corbin hoodie to hide from Braun Strowman. This probably wasn’t a good idea because Strowman hates Corbin too.

‘KO’ confronted Kurt Angle saying something had to be done about Strowman’s recent actions that include tipping Owens’ card last week. So, Angle put them in a match.

Owens continued trying to talk the GM out of the decision, but Angle was having none of it. Later, the former WWE Universal Champion even consulted Jinder Mahal in order to find inner peace.

(Side note – it looks like Mahal is back to the gimmick he originally returned with before his mega-push. It seems as though the experiment is over.)

As soon as the referee rang the opening bell, Owens scampered and tried to escape in his car only to realize he had lost his keys. So, he hid in a portable toilet.

Strowman found him, pulled the toilet into the arena, onto the stage, and then pushed it off the edge of said stage.

I did not find this funny or entertaining in any way. I’m such a party pooper. Get it because poop… never mind.
