The WWE Money in the Bank 2026 premium live event is just a week away, with only two episodes of SmackDown left before the show takes place on October 10.

While WWE does often coast a little in the last week or two before a big PLE, there is still a lot to be determined before we get to Money in the Bank.

Not only are two Money in the Bank spots available, but there is also perhaps one more space on the card given how there is not a single SmackDown match booked for the show as of yet.

With two episodes leaving more than enough time for significant twists and turns, here are three potential SmackDown surprises we could see before Money in the Bank.

R-Truth becomes more serious Ron Killings character once again after Damian Priest attack

On the September 11 episode of WWE SmackDown, Damian Priest brutally stabbed R-Truth in the back after they lost a AAA World Tag Team Title match against The War Raiders.

Two weeks later, Priest was shown once again blindsiding Truth at the WWE Performance Center, showing more of the vicious streak that he had during his time in The Judgment Day years ago.

The time has come for WWE to continue this feud on TV, rather than in segments filmed elsewhere, and it is also time for the veteran to fight back. However, rather than being his typical light-hearted self, it’s time for Truth to match Priest by showing that he can too be serious and aggressive.

We saw a glimpse of this side of Truth back in the Summer of 2025 when he returned under his real name Ron Killings after being released by WWE; this was dropped soon after however and he reverted back to his comedic role. If WWE wants to further this feud, it’s time for Truth to revisit this side of himself once again.

Sami Zayn forced to defend Undisputed WWE Title… Again

Sami Zayn has officially surpassed his first Undisputed WWE Championship run in terms of length, but that doesn’t mean he’s calmed down about the injustices against him on SmackDown.

Zayn is convinced that Nick Aldis is conspiring against him given all the potential challengers on the blue brand that are gunning for him and his title; ignoring that his interjection in other stars’ own title opportunities is why that’s the case – something Finn Balor pointed out to him last week.

Given Zayn’s endless complaining, Aldis may decide to once again put him to the test as champion, either at or before Money in the Bank.

Trick Williams attacked, taken out of Money in the Bank ladder match

WWE loves themselves a good whodunnit. Whether it be Jade Cargill getting laid out in late 2024, or Jacob Fatu last year; SmackDown has seen its fair share of mysteries.

If WWE wanted to shake things up a bit for Money in the Bank, they could have one of the advertised competitors in the match laid out in a backstage attack ahead of the October 10 show.

Given that Trick Williams already has the US Title in his possession it feels unlikely he wins the briefcase in New Orleans. So, WWE could take him out of the match in suspicious circumstances; adding extra intrigue for who will take his spot and give Trick a feud with however it was after Money in the Bank.
