While it is indisputable that WWE’s fanbase includes a large amount of children, their favorites – at least reflected by WWE Shop purchases – are quite intriguing.
From obvious additions to more surprising names, there are some some fascinating details to examine in terms of popularity in WWE merchandise.
According to WWEShop.com’s top selling merchandise listing for kids, there are several intriguing names listed among the top stars.
Roman Reigns & Cody Rhodes remain favorites
Both accounted for in the top 10 sellers amongst WWE stars, perennial favorites Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.
Also unsurprisingly making the list of of top sellers in the kids category, WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley and Alexa Bliss.
Seemingly also still popular amongst WWE’s younger audience, Jey Uso also made the list of top sellers in kids.
Intriguingly however, Solo Sikoa ranks amongst the top sellers in adult merch with his catchphrases catching on.
Interesting omissions
While there are a few interesting omissions at least at time of writing (including Danhausen and CM Punk), it should be noted that the “top sellers” do fluctuate over time.
With popularity with children often seen as a positive indicator for WWE stars, it seems likely that the aforementioned are accounted for in terms of purchases outside of simply kids apparel. With action figures, sandals and masks alike, both Punk and Danhausen have a variety of opportunities to lead sales on WWE Shop.
New stars gathering fans with kids & adults
Perhaps the most interesting detail noted when viewing the “top sellers” in kids in isolation were the relatively new stars that seemed to capture the imagination of WWE fans.
Already an impactful addition to the WWE Raw roster, Oba Femi has made a big impact with fans of all ages it seems, with his character’s t-shirt appearing on the top sellers for kids.
With an intriguing opportunity from storytelling standpoint to put Oba Femi through a classic hero’s journey on his road to toppling Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, building momentum with fans of all ages throughout would make total sense.
However, on the heels of his stunning performance against Roman Reigns on WWE Raw in Mexico City, there was one clear leader on the top sellers category.
Penta reigns supreme
At time of writing, Penta accounts for the top three top sellers in kids apparel, clearly making a statement about the future of WWE.
With the likes of Penta and Femi capturing the imagination of WWE’s youngest fans (or at least the parents purchasing their WWE gear), both also appear under the listings for adult apparel as well.
Penta also is featured as the top seller in adult apparel as well at time of writing, boasting multiple designs in the top 10.
While the on-screen action is certainly compelling, wins and losses extend beyond the squared circle. With an interesting trend in popularity for stars like Penta and Oba Femi, it could be that WWE leans into their presentation in terms of multi-generational appeal.
