At WWE WrestleMania 42, John Cena will serve as the special guest host for the two-night premium live event.

“The Never Seen 17” will not only kick off the weekend, but he should also be interacting with current stars on the WWE roster.

Whether it is an in-ring confrontation or a backstage segment, there are many choices for Cena to interact with over the course of the two-night event from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Here are eight WWE stars to potentially interact with John Cena at WrestleMania 42.

8. Danhausen

At WWE Elimination Chamber 2026, Danhausen made his debut with the company as the individual inside of the mystery crate.

Since arriving, Danhausen has actively appeared on both Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown on a regular basis.

The “Very Nice, Very Evil” star recently teased that he wanted to speak with John Cena ahead of WrestleMania 42.

This should lead to Danhausen interacting with Cena whether it be in front of the fans in attendance at Allegiant Stadium or during a backstage segment of some capacity.

7. The Miz

Since John Cena’s retirement in December 2025, several different stars have made reference to the legend.

Among the stars who have reminded fans of Cena’s impact on their career is The Miz.

“The A Lister” has viewed himself as a mentor and leader of the WWE locker room now that Cena has hung up his jorts.

Interacting with his former rival in Cena, The Miz could let “The Never Seen 17” know about his new mantra of the “Miz Method” to “Master, Inspire and Zone In” at WrestleMania 42.

6. R-Truth

Someone else who has been no stranger to John Cena as an opponent or a tag team partner is R-Truth.

Over the years, Truth has made it no secret that Cena was his favorite wrestler growing up and even adopted his moveset.

“Ron Cena” making an appearance to interact with his brother would be a fun way to play off of Cena’s hosting duties at WrestleMania 42.

After recently winning the WWE Tag Team Championships with Damian Priest, this might be the best way to feature Truth on “The Show of Shows” if he is not going to be having a match on the card.

5. AJ Styles

One of the most anticipated events of the entire WrestleMania 42 weekend will be the WWE Hall of Fame 2026.

One of the headline inductees will be former two-time WWE Champion AJ Styles.

Throughout his 10-year run with WWE, many fans would say John Cena was Styles’ greatest rival and put on so many classics with him over the years.

Now that Styles will put a bow on his legendary career, it would be special to see “The Phenomenal One” interact with Cena one more time before both men ride off into the sunset.

4. CM Punk

Another WWE star who has known John Cena for years in several different ways is CM Punk.

Over the past few years, Punk hasn’t been shy about how much of an impact Cena has played on his career.

With Punk headlining WrestleMania 42 Sunday, it would be a fun interaction to see him get some last words and a pep talk from Cena ahead of his showdown with Roman Reigns.

Punk and Cena showing their admiration for each other could be just what “The Best In The World” needs before his first singles match headlining Mania on April 19.

3. Cody Rhodes

Another former John Cena rival who might need to speak with “The Never Seen 17” ahead of their WrestleMania 42 main event is Cody Rhodes.

In 2025, Rhodes and Cena were embroiled in a feud that saw the two men trade the Undisputed WWE Championship.

It was Rhodes who inspired Cena to become his true self once again and helped him to cap off his final year in the right way.

Now with Cody needing some words of wisdom before he competes against his former mentor Randy Orton who will be alongside Pat McAfee, Cena could be the pep talk that Rhodes needs to retain the gold at “The Showcase of the Immortals.”

2. Randy Orton

Speaking of Cody Rhodes, “The American Nightmare” will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton in the main event of WrestleMania 42 Saturday.

On the road to Mania, Orton has started listening to the “voices” in his head and Pat McAfee, which caused him to turn on Rhodes.

Now hellbent on saving the business from his former protege, it feels like fans are seeing a more diabolical and ruthless version of Orton that maybe only John Cena truly knows about.

Having Cena interact with this version of Orton again would be a compelling segment, especially if Pat McAfee is also around during this confrontation at Mania.

1. GUNTHER

At the December 13 edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, GUNTHER defeated and tapped out John Cena in his final match.

Ever since this win, “The Ring General” has bragged and gloated over this victory as well as the fact that he made “The Never Seen 17” submit in his final moments.

As soon as Cena was announced to be the special guest host for WrestleMania 42, many fans believed that some kind of interaction with GUNTHER was needed.

GUNTHER confronting Cena before his showdown with Seth Rollins on the card would certainly be a memorable moment to take place at “The Show of Shows” this year.
