Next challenger for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship after Money in the Bank: Who will step up to face the winner of Roman Reigns vs LA Knight?

Following his title defense against Penta, Roman Reigns will next defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank.

After recent confrontations on Raw, Reigns will put his title on the line against LA Knight at the October 10 premium live event in New Orleans.

Following this event, WWE will likely have another top contender emerge, to challenge for the title in the latter months of the year.

With Survivor Series WarGames, Wrestlepalooza and Royal Rumble coming up soon on WWE’s PLE calendar, it will be interesting to see what happens with the World Heavyweight Title in the lead-up to the road to WrestleMania 42.

Here are three stars who could be next to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship, following Roman Reigns vs LA Knight.

Royce Keys

In recent weeks, Royce Keys has given both Roman Reigns and LA Knight good reason to want to fight him, so we could see the powerhouse challenge for the gold regardless of the October 10 result.

Royce Keys brought Lucien Price and Bronco Nima to the main roster on the August 24 Raw episode, with OTM helping Keys to take out The Usos, Solo Sikoa and LA Knight.

This trio, now known as the 946, continued to terrorize the Bloodline in the following weeks, notably setting The Usos’ car alight, and abducting Solo Sikoa.

With both parties in the upcoming World Heavyweight Championship match having issues with Royce Keys, the former “Powerhouse Hobbs” feels like the next natural challenger for the title.

CM Punk

On the September 25 SmackDown episode, CM Punk defeated Finn Balor and GUNTHER to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match.

While Punk will attempt to win the Money in the Bank briefcase for the third time on October 10, we could see him leave the Undisputed WWE Title picture to challenge for another title.

With CM Punk previously losing the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42, we could see the Second City Saint return to the Raw brand for a rematch if he successfully earns the contract which would allow him to have a title match at a time of his choosing.

With the Undisputed WWE Title picture looking rather crowded at the moment, moving CM Punk to Raw could give the division, and Sami Zayn, some breathing room.

Oba Femi

WWE has teased a Roman Reigns vs Oba Femi title match since WrestleMania 42, when The Ruler issued a challenge to the new World Heavyweight Champion on the post-show.

With Oba Femi and Reigns being kept apart ever since, and Femi relinquishing his guaranteed title shot after winning the King of the Ring tournament, fans are anticipating an explosive encounter when the duo finally stand across from one another.

While previous reports indicated that this match is planned for WrestleMania 43, we could see the first chapter play out sooner.
