Absent WWE Star Returning To Challenge Intercontinental Champion Gunther? WWE

An absent WWE star has sent a challenge to Intercontinental Champion Gunther following last night’s Royal Rumble show.

Intercontinental Champion Gunther took part in his second Royal Rumble match last night, coming in third after once again being eliminated by Cody Rhodes.

With the Road to WrestleMania now underway, there has been speculation about who Gunther could end up facing off with at WrestleMania this year, with names like Chad Gable, Bron Breakker and more in the mix.

One name who always seems linked with Gunther in WWE is Sheamus, who has had many classic bouts with Gunther on his quest to finally capture the Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his legendary career.

With today being Sheamus’ birthday, WWE shared a message to the former WWE Champion on Twitter, running down his man accolades during his career.

With one specific accolade missing, Sheamus responded to the post, simply stating:

and soon to be… The Ultimate Grand Slam Champion @Gunther_AUT.

Sheamus also changed his profile picture, now being a photo of himself photoshopped to be wearing the Intercontinental Championship.

Sheamus has been out of action with a shoulder injury since August, with his last appearance being his match with Edge on SmackDown in Toronto back in August, which was Edge’s last with the company before joining AEW.

Gunther is set to defend the title against Kofi Kingston on tomorrow night’s Raw show.
