Update On Adam Cole Injury Following September 27 AEW Dynamite AEW

An update has been provided on Adam Cole’s injury following the September 27 AEW Dynamite.

At AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, MJF defeated Samoa Joe to retain the AEW World Championship in the main event.

During the closing stretch of the bout, MJF’s best friend and tag team partner Adam Cole came down to the ring to support him. However, Cole injured his ankle when jumping off the ramp to come to ringside.

On the September 27 edition of AEW Dynamite, Cole announced that he had broken his ankle in three places and had to have surgery. Despite this announcement, many fans have questioned the legitimacy of the injury.

Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update, noting that the word within AEW is that Cole is legitimately scheduled for surgery on his injured ankle and will be out for quite some time.

When seen by others backstage, Cole had his ankle wrapped and was on crutches. He also required help traveling to the show as well.

The hope within All Elite Wrestling was that the ROH World Tag Team Champion simply suffered an ankle sprain, but that does not seem to be the case now.

The report also notes that Cole isn’t expected in a live capacity on upcoming episodes of Dynamite and Collision.

Due to Cole’s injury, MJF will now defend the ROH World Tag Team Championships on his own in a handicap match against The Righteous at AEW WrestleDream.
