Injured AEW Star Believes Company Doesn’t Need Them Right Now AEW

Eddie Kingston has opened up about his absence from AEW and revealed he feels the company doesn’t need him right now.

The inaugural Continental Classic winner had his last match at the May 11, 2024, NJPW Resurgence event, picking up an injury to his leg that would require surgery.

Earlier this month, Kingston revealed his current health condition, noting he was healing a fractured tibia, meniscus strain and had his ACL replaced.

On a recent episode of The DAVINci Report, Kingston reflected on his time away and the current status of AEW, saying:

“To be honest, AEW right now doesn’t really need me at this point in time. In my opinion, with what’s going on. They are doing their thing.

“I think having me around right now may mess up some plans, which I like doing, but also trying to be a company guy. I’m trying. You don’t want to mess up the plans too much. Especially when it’s good.

“I don’t know what’s going on with [Jon Moxley]. I haven’t talked to him in three or four months. I don’t know what’s going on with him with this whole Darby (Allin) thing.

“I knew something was up because we text each other at least once or twice a week, just funny stuff, nothing about wrestling. A funny meme or a stupid Instagram thing, just to make each other laugh.

“He’s doing his thing. I have nothing against what he’s doing. (I’m) not needed right now, I don’t think.”

It was previously reported that Kingston is likely to be out until 2025 with Fightful now noting he could be absent until May next year.

Jon Moxley has recently shown a much more aggressive side than many AEW fans might have expected, attempting to suffocate Bryan Danielson with a plastic bag at All Out.

Recently, Moxley challenged Darby Allin for his AEW World Championship opportunity at Grand Slam on September 25.

Moxley has also formed his own faction and has been attempting to recruit Wheeler Yuta.
