An update has emerged on the AEW status of Chris Hero (fka Kassius Ohno) following his recently run backstage.
Hero has been making backstage appearances for AEW since the June 17 Collision premiere, with the 43-year-old working as a backstage producer on a trial basis.
An update has emerged on Hero’s role with the company, with AEW reportedly hiring him as a full-time name.
Per PWInsider, Chris Hero is now officially full-time producer for AEW.
The report noted that Hero has gotten ‘high marks’ for his work within the company.
While the former ROH Tag Team Champion is celebrated for his work on the US independent scene, WWE fans will recognise Hero as the former ‘Kassius Ohno’, wrestling for WWE from 2011 to 2013, before returning in 2016.
Hero was released by WWE in April 2020, but hasn’t wrestled since competing in a Battle Royal for the NXT UK brand that March.
AEW President Tony Khan has teased Hero’s return to the ring, taking to Twitter earlier this month to note that he’s ‘chipping away’ at Hero.
Hero recently opened up about his new AEW role, which you can read more about right here.
Another AEW name has teased his return to the ring, hinting that he will wrestle at All In, if AEW is able to sell out Wembley Stadium.
