AEW Hurt Syndicate Member Not Originally On Board With Wearing Suits

AEW star MVP has commented on the Hurt Syndicate always wearing suits, and how one member of the group wasn’t always on board with the idea.

One of the trademarks of the Hurt Syndicate group of MVP, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin is the sharp suits they always wear when they’re not wrestling.

According to MVP though, Shelton Benjamin had to be brought along to join MVP and Lashley in doing so.

In a new interview with Jimmy V3, MVP explained:

“We’re professionals. As MVP, I always wore a suit and a tie, I presented myself as an elite level athlete, big money guy. Bobby was always very well-dressed. He would always wear a blazer, sport coat, Bobby’s very stylish.

“Shelton we had to bring along. Shelton was an interesting deal. Shelton would dress well, but just in athletic clothing.

“A funny story where I was trying to encourage Shelton to dress up a little more once we started the Hurt Business. We were going back and forth about it, and Shelton said, ‘Hey look man, you make your money your way, and I’ll make my money my way.’ And we laughed about it, it’s cool.

“And then we had a meeting with our old boss who’s no longer around, and he was talking about how well me and Bobby dressed, and how well we’re presented, and Shelton always has on a nice pair of jeans – and Shelton picked up on that right away

“After that meeting, he called me up, he was at a men’s clothing store and asked me if I could come by and help him pick out some tie/suit combinations. He dropped several thousand dollars on some tailor made suits. “Now we have a running joke where I go, ‘So Shelton, how are you making your money these days?’

“We’re businessmen, that’s the whole idea. We’re businessmen. Professional wrestling is a business, and we’re aware of that, and we have a brand, and our brand is hurt. We hurt people, we do it for money, and no-one is better at it than we are.”

Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin won the AEW World Tag Team Championship from Private Party in January, before losing the title to Brodido at AEW All In Texas in August.
