AEW commentator Jim Ross has opened up about the departure of Blackpool Combat Club manager William Regal from the company.
While AEW has not yet confirmed Regal’s departure, several reports from both in and outside of the company have said that he will be leaving and returning to WWE as early as January.
On the latest episode of Grilling JR, Ross spoke about what he believes Regal brought to the company during his tenure:
“He’s been a very valuable resource, you can’t replace guys with that kind of experience and in Regal’s case, the patience to help these young guys. He was in the ring every day at [AEW] TV, he always had time for the talent, young green guys.
“I mentioned to MJF, I said ‘The more you can sit under that learning tree of William Regal and talk about the psychology of being a wrestling villain, you should because he’s got great psychology.’
“A very valuable asset wherever he may be, I don’t know what the future holds for him.”
It was recently reported that Regal may have been turned off from AEW because of some talents not being accepting of advice, but other company sources have claimed that to be “complete bulls**t”.
Tony Khan is set to address Regal’s status in the pre-ROH Final Battle media scrum later today.
