NJPW has released 34-minute documentary about the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in 2022 and it’s free for a limited time.
With AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door II taking place on Sunday, June 25 2023 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, this is a great time to reflect on the first co-produced PPV.
Previously, Tony Khan has discussed the challenges leading into the first show, but described it as “awesome” despite the changes that needed to be made.
NJPW’s Rocky Romero has also spoken about the challenges of formatting a card for Forbidden Door, taking into account the needs of both companies.
Now, fans can look back at the event from behind the scenes, with comments from Chris Jericho, Sting, Shingo Takagi, FTR, Clark Connors, Tony Schiavone, William Regal and Hiroshi Tanahashi.
The documentary is available to watch on YouTube (see below this news story) but only until June 26 11:59PM JST (or 10:59AM Eastern Daylight Time).
The card for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door II on June 25 at the time of writing looks like this:
Kenny Omega vs. Will Ospreay: IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship
Bryan Danielson vs. Kazuchika Okada
Sanada vs. “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry: IWGP World Heavyweight Championship
MJF vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi: AEW World Championship
Will Ospreay has shared his thoughts on Omega and Canada in recent comments, saying that he needs the match to prove his point that he’s the “best wrestler in the world.”
AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman has continued to deny that he will defend his title at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door against Hiroshi Tanahashi using statistics to explain why the match won’t happen.
Meanwhile, KENTA has seemingly closed the door on a possible match against CM Punk.
