Popular AEW Name Reflects On ‘Too Many’ Failed WWE Tryouts AEW

A popular AEW name has reflected on his past experiences with WWE, revealing that he tried out unsuccessfully with the company on numerous occasions.

The Mogul Embassy’s Prince Nana has risen to unforeseen popularity due to his entertaining antics at ringside, namely his dance to Swerve Strickland’s entrance music.

Despite this, Nana has actually been involved in the wrestling industry for over two decades, working with Ring of Honor since all the way back in 2002.

While ROH is the place he’s synonymous with, things could have turned out much differently had he been hired by the WWE (then WWF) back in the Attitude Era.

Speaking on Talk is Jericho, Nana spoke of his interactions with the WWE, which included multiple tryouts as both a wrestler and manager.

Nana explained:

“Too many … a lot of interactions.

“I wrestled Crash Holly at Madison Square Garden … it was for a TV taping. I also worked Steve Blackman at Nassau Coliseum, that goes back a long way.

“I was actually there during the WWF era, before it became WWE. I also had tryouts with the company where they brought me in to try out as a manager and they know me pretty well.”

Although Nana was never taken on board with WWE, the 44-year-old has no bitterness towards the fact and is happy he ended up in AEW.

“I don’t know exactly why I never ended up getting a job there particularly, but I’m a believer in ‘everything happens for a reason’ … I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else other than AEW.”

Nana played a major role in the outcome of the Jay White vs Hangman Adam Page match on this week’s Dynamite, costing Page the match and seemingly furthering the rivalry between Page and Swerve Strickland.
