An AEW star was announced as having been unable to compete in a match as he is ‘not medically cleared’ as AEW was in Ontario, California.
During the match featuring the Young Bucks taking on Penta El Zero Miedo and Komander, AEW explained why Penta wasn’t teaming with his usual partner and real-life brother, Rey Fenix.
It was noted that Fenix was not in the match because he ‘was not medically cleared’ to compete at this time.
Recent reports have indicated the legitimate reason for Fenix’s absence could be visa issues, but we’ll keep you posted.
In the match itself, the Young Bucks made a character shift as they openly cheated to win the match.
Later in a backstage interview segment that was interrupted by Kenny Omega, the Bucks rationalized that they know who they have to be in order to be successful.
Challenging Kenny Omega to ask himself when he was the most successful (when he was world champion as a heel), instead the Elite were interrupted by Chris Jericho.
The two tag teams have a match at AEW Full Gear 2023, which will be the Young Bucks against Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho with their shared moniker being the ‘Golden Jets’.
If the Bucks win, the Jets can never tag together again, but if the Jets win, they take the Young Bucks’ future title shot at the AEW Tag Team Championship they won at WrestleDream.
