AEW Star Reveals He Threw Up Right Before Huge Match AEW

Eddie Kingston has reflected on competing in this year’s NJPW G1 Climax tournament, revealing that he was sick right before a big match.

With Kingston drawing a lot of inspiration from Japanese wrestling legends, fans could see just how much it meant to Kingston to compete in NJPW’s annual round robin tournament earlier this year.

The AEW star faced off against a number of top NJPW stars including Tomohiro Ishii and Shingo Takagi.

Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated’s Fan Nation, Kingston revealed that his first match in the tournament, against Shingo Takagi, was almost delayed.

Revealing that he threw up shortly before battling the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, Kingston said:

“I threw up before my match against Shingo. I always get nervous before matches, but I’ve never been that nervous.

“So I got to the ring, talked to myself and said, ‘Yup, I’m in the G1.’ That helped. Then Shingo hit me really hard with the first forearm, and I knew I was ready.”

Kingston went on to defeat Takagi in just under 13 minutes.

He ultimately finished the tournament with 8 points, placing fourth in Block C following block action.

Several AEW stars will be in action at the January 4 Wrestle Kingdom 18 event.
