Former WWE Tag Team Champion Tommaso Ciampa has signed with AEW, and his first opponent has commented on the arrival.
Having parted ways with WWE when his contract expired, Tommaso Ciampa made his AEW debut on last night’s episode of Dynamite.
Answering Mark Briscoe’s TNT Championship open challenge, the pair will square off on the January 31 episode of AEW Collision.
Briscoe has now addressed the arrival of the former WWE star and the reception he can expect to receive this Saturday.
Speaking in an exclusive shared by AEW on Twitter, Briscoe promised a fight, saying:
“You know I couldn’t have took a spiral notebook and a ballpoint pen and wrote it down any better than the way it happened in Austin, Texas.
“After I ran through El Clon, I made a challenge. Anybody who wants it, meet me in Dallas, baby.
“The lights went out, the flames gotta blazin’, the music hit and a familiar face showed up at the top of the ramp.
“Tommaso Ciampa. Long time, brother. But, hey, that’s what I like. That’s what I want to see.
“I said I’m here to reign and defend, not to duck and to dodge I want the battle, I want the war, I want the fight, baby!
“So, Tommaso, man, I can’t wait for Saturday Night Collision. TNT title on the line. Welcome to TNT. Welcome to AE-Dub.”

Back in November 2013, Ciampa faced Briscoe twice in Ring of Honor, with that company now owned by AEW.
Ciampa would win an ROH World Television Championship Number 1 Contendership three-way against Briscoe and Jay Lethal at The Golden Dream on November 2, 2013.
That would be followed up with a singles match at ROH Pursuit on November 16, with Ciampa once again victorious over Mark Briscoe.
