AEW commentator Jim Ross has revealed what was said in his brief conversation with Cody Rhodes following WrestleMania 40.
During Sunday’s (April 7) main event, Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns to win the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship, which he has been chasing since returning to the company in April 2022.
With Rhodes finishing his story, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has revealed that he sent Rhodes a congratulatory text following his big win.
Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Ross noted that he told Rhodes to be the leader that WWE needs.
Recalling Rhodes’ response, Ross said:
I sent him a text on Monday morning, I let things settle down. He got back to me on Tuesday. I just said, you know, ‘I’m proud of you, be the leader that WWE needs. I love you.’
His response to me was ‘I did it cowboy.’ That’s what he used to call me.
