April Mendez (AJ Lee) has now commented on the possibility of an in-ring return after joining WOW as an executive producer.
Mendez hasn’t wrestled since the March 30, 2015 edition of Raw. After it was announced that Mendez would be working with WOW, her husband, CM Punk stated that she hasn’t been able to return to the ring since her WWE run due to a neck injury.
Speaking with Izzy on the WOW Superheros YouTube channel, Mendez revealed that she has actually physically, mentally and spiritually recovered from her last wrestling run.
Enjoying watching the next generation of women’s wrestlers take the spotlight, Mendez said:
“I say the same thing in every interview, and it’s ‘never say never, but don’t hold your breath. What I mean by that is that I never say never to anything. Physically, mentally, emotionally, I’m healed from everything I’ve gone through in wrestling. I could technically do it, but I am so enjoying letting the next generation have their spotlight.
“I got to do everything I want to do, so it would have to be ‘is that challenge there?’ I don’t think the girls need me there, I think they’re going to take over the world all by themselves.”
Mendez has also explained why she chose to return to the business for WOW Wrestling.
