WWE Hall of Famer AJ Styles has heaped praise on both El Grande Americanos ahead of their upcoming mask vs mask match.

Last year, Chad Gable was gifted a luchador mask during his rivalry with Rey Mysterio and the LWO ahead of WrestleMania 41, becoming ‘El Grande Americano’, a gimmick which he remained in up until he sustained an injury at Money In The Bank.

Following Gable’s injury, the El Grande Americano gimmick continued on, with Ludwig Kaiser taking on the role of El Grande Americano, with him becoming a beloved babyface in AAA over the past few months.

Gable would return as El Grande Americano back at the Royal Rumble, with he and Kaiser’s Americano being at war ever since, with one of the two set to be unmasked once and for all at AAA’s upcoming Noche de Los Grandes event, when both El Grande Americanos face off in a mask vs. mask match.

AJ Styles Praises Both El Grande Americanos In WWE

Speaking on his Phenomenally Retro podcast, AJ Styles praised both versions of El Grande Americano, and what makes the match between them special.

He said:

“They’re very much looked over. (Kaiser)’s brilliant. I’ve seen this guy, I had to look back because we’re eating lunch, and see who was talking, because I thought it was him, and sure enough, he’s speaking Spanish fluently. I just start laughing. He has embraced this character so much, and is so good at it.

“Got the sweetest girl from Mexico who says she’s his tutor, and I was like ‘I’m so proud of him’, because he’s actually very good in the ring, very good. He understands his character. If he’s a heel, he is that heel character. I loved working him. I’m so stoked for him, man.

“And of course, the other Grande Americano. I don’t want to call them by their names, but you know who we’re talking about. He’s good man, that’s what makes this match special, those two going at it, it’s good.

“It started as a joke and then they were like ‘this thing’s got legs’.”

Which El Grande Americano Will Be Unmasked?

With the match between both El Grande Americanos coming up later this month, we will soon see one of the two men drop the character to return to their usual character on the show.

Since donning the character, Ludwig Kaiser’s version of El Grande Americano has become one of the most popular babyfaces in the entire promotion in AAA, with him seemingly set for an upcoming AAA Mega Championship clash with Dominik Mysterio.

Kaiser’s character wasn’t really being spotlighted prior to him becoming El Grande Americano, nor were Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne, who portray Rayo and Bravo Americano alongside Kaiser on the show, so it would be the better option to keep him momentum rolling with the character.

Gable’s version of the character has already past it’s expiration date to most fans, with Gable able to immediately slot back into the TV show with his regular character once all is said and done.
