WWE/AEW
Matt Jackson of the Young Bucks has recalled talking to Triple H back in 2018 to ‘actively’ set up a match between the Elite and New Day.
Back in 2018, before the launch of All Elite Wrestling, Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks were spotlighted on official WWE programming, when they entered an online rivalry with the New Day.
This led to the two factions finally coming face to face at E3 in 2018, when they took part in a Street Fighter V tournament, which was livestreamed on the UpUpDownDown YouTube channel.
The Elite would go on to launch All Elite Wrestling the following January, with Kenny and the Young Bucks being executive vice presidents in the company to this day.
The Young Bucks Spoke To Triple H In 2018
In a new video on the Being The Elite YouTube channel, Matt and Nick Jackson sat down to watch the old episode of Being The Elite, where they vlogged the encounter between the two groups.
While a match between the New Day and The Elite never took place, Matt Jackson did note that both parties were ‘actively’ pushing for the match, with the Bucks even speaking to Triple H back in 2018 to try and make it happen.
He said:
“We truly were trying to get a New Day, Young Bucks, Kenny (Omega) match to happen, an Elite vs. New Day match. Actively.
“They said they were trying on their side, we were talking to our bosses, even to the point in 2018 we got on the phone to Triple H and we talked and said ‘we would really like to do this match’.
“I don’t know if he was necessarily interested in just doing that match, I think he was more interested in pursuing us to work for him, but we talked to him about it, so we were serious about doing the match, and we thought we’d probably be able to do it.
“And unfortunately we never did.”

The New Day Vs. The Elite In AEW?
With the New Day’s Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods recently departing WWE, the two are now subject to a 90 day non-compete clause before they are able to sign elsewhere.
Since their departure, many names on the AEW roster have expressed interest in bringing the two into the company, with it seemingly likely that we may see Kofi and Woods arrive in AEW later this year.
While the originally pitched six-man tag will likely never happen due to Big E still being with WWE, and his in-ring days behind him, we will likely at least see a dream tag team clash between the Young Bucks and the New Day later this year, potentially at AEW All In at Wembley Stadium this August.
