Backstage Note On Cody Rhodes Using ‘Banned’ Terms On WWE TV WWE

A backstage note has emerged on Cody Rhodes using ‘banned’ terms on WWE TV, most recently on Monday’s episode of Raw.

On this week’s show, The Miz corrected Cody Rhodes after he called the WWE Universal Championship a belt, informing the former AEW EVP that it’s called a title in WWE.

Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, this was not a slip of the tongue on Cody’s part, as the Miz TV segment was scripted.

Explaining why Rhodes gets to say certain WWE taboo terms, Meltzer said:

“This is all scripted so his gimmick apparently is that he gets to say the words that nobody else gets to say and gets corrected.”

Several reports have also stated that Cody’s emotional promo on last week’s Raw after WrestleMania was also scripted, despite Cody saying the segment was entirely from the heart.

On this week’s episode, Cody defeated The Miz in singles action. WWE has now announced a Cody Rhodes match for WrestleMania Backlash, which you can read more about right here.
