As previously reported, CM Punk followed up his shocking appearance backstage at Monday Night Raw, by also showing up behind the scenes at the April 29 IMPACT Wrestling show.
While Punk has certainly had an eventful week, compared to his Raw appearance, his presence at IMPACT seems to have been far better received backstage.
According to Fightful Select (subscription required) Punk was ‘welcomed’ at IMPACT, being ‘brought through by security even by numerous fans’.
Fightful’s sources indicated that Punk spent time backstage mingling with talent and posing for pictures. He was said to be in a good mood at the taping.
IMPACT star Jordynne Grace would upload a photo on Twitter of herself an Punk backstage at the Chicago tapings with the caption:
“Never know who’s gonna show up @IMPACTWRESTLING“
One half of the legendary Rock N Roll Express Ricky Morton also uploaded a picture of himself and Punk backstage at the tapings, tweeting:
“So great to see my friend, @CMPunk”
“What a great time this weekend. Genuinely love what I get to do and be apart of, which is my passion, Professional Wrestling.”
Despite Punk’s backstage appearances for WWE and IMPACT, he is expected to be making his return to AEW in the summer, with the June 17 AEW show from Chicago’s United Center reportedly the location for not only Punk’s return but also the debut of AEW’s new Saturday wrestling program AEW Collision.
While no official announcement has been made regarding AEW Collision, it has been reported that the introduction of the new show will see AEW undergo a brand split of some form.
Other names rumored to be joining Punk on Saturday nights are FTR and Chris Jericho, who Punk recently reportedly had a meeting with to discuss potential creative plans upon his return.
