The backstage reaction to the WWE departure of Kevin Dunn has been revealed, following reports about his exit from the company.
As previously reported by PWInsider, the WWE Executive Producer & Chief, Global Television Distribution informed WWE around Christmas week he was leaving.
Fightful Select now reports that they spoke with many ‘several shocked talent’ who had no idea that Dunn was exiting.
In terms of what’s next, the report noted that some within WWE believe that there won’t be a single successor to Dunn, and that his role will instead by split as several individuals have trained in aspects of Dunn’s role.
Fightful also reported that Dunn has missed more WWE shows than usual recently, and that some within WWE believed that over the next few months, some of the ‘older guard’ would be scaled back.
Dunn was named an executive producer or WWE programming in 1993, and has played a big role in establishing the presentation of WWE TV since then.
PWInsider’s initial report indicated that Dunn had previously noted that he never intended to work for anyone other than Vince McMahon in WWE.
