A former WWE Champion who was set for the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame has been revealed.
Ahead of the 2020 WWE Hall of Fame, Batista was set to headline the class for the event during WrestleMania 36 weekend. However, due to the global pandemic, the Hall of Fame was postponed to 2021.
Due to prior engagements, Batista was unable to appear at the 2021 event as well. In March 2021, “The Animal” stated:
“By my request, they have agreed to induct me at a future ceremony where I’ll be able to properly thank the fans and people who made my career possible.”
The former WWE Champion previously stated that he wanted to get inducted when WWE came to Los Angeles for the WrestleMania 39 weekend, but that wasn’t meant to be unfortunately.
Speaking with CoolKicks, Batista revealed that he was supposed to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year, but he was filming a movie in South Africa and was unable to attend this year’s ceremony.
When asked if he had attended this year’s WrestleMania in Los Angeles, the Hollywood actor said:
“No. I was in South Africa. I was supposed to go into the Hall Of Fame, but I was on this film I was committed to. I couldn’t get out of it.”
Later in the interview, Batista also revealed that he prefers acting at this point in his career, but admits that there is nothing like performing in front of a professional wrestling audience.
Batista lost his final match to Triple H at WrestleMania 35 in 2019.
