NXT fans were buzzing well into the night on Tuesday, when WWE teased that the brand would be returning to it’s ‘Black & Gold’ roots soon.
It has not yet been revealed when the change will take full effect, as WWE taped the next two weeks of the show still with the 2.0 branding, while the new NXT logo was used during last night’s SmackDown ahead of Solo Sikoa’s defence of the North American Championship against Madcap Moss.
Many former NXT black and gold stars have reacted to the change with excitement. Bayley was one of the focal points of the NXT women’s division during the black and gold era, and she spoke about the change on the In The Kliq podcast.
Bayley noted that, while it felt good to see the gold in the logo again, ultimately it doesn’t matter what color the logo is as the stars on the brand have been working hard regardless.
She said:
“I don’t know exactly what that means for a change. They just changed the logo back which is — it just felt good to see that again. But the whole roster there is killing it. I’m so proud of all the girls. I’ve been able to spend so much time there during my rehab and gotten to know a lot of the guys, gotten to know a lot of the girls, and watch them train, watch how hard they work. So I don’t think it really matters what it’s called, whether it’s called 2.0 and it has some paint splashed on it, or whether it’s the old black and gold, what they’re doing in the ring doesn’t change. They are just making everybody proud that came from there and they’re just going to continue to do so.”
All three members of Damage CTRL have a strong history with the black and gold era of NXT, and a current name in NXT was who Bayley chose as the next potential member of the stable.
