Becky Lynch Gives Brutally Honest Assessment Of WWE Women’s Booking WWE

NXT Women’s Champion Becky Lynch has given a brutally honest assessment of the booking of WWE’s women’s division.

This comes shortly after a story broke about a planned match between Lynch and Tegan Nox that caused a bit of an uproar.

Nox was planned to challenge Lynch for the NXT Women’s Title on the September 18 episode of Raw.

However, just before the show, the decision was made to swap out Nox, who would have been in her first ever singles match on Raw, for Natalya, a WWE veteran who’s been with the company for nearly 17 years.

That happening caused a lot of discourse about younger or newer women like Nox not getting the opportunity to make a name for themselves, something Becky Lynch certainly agrees with.

In a new interview with the New York Post, Lynch said:

“Currently, we are a little light on women with credibility on Raw.

“So any way I can give these women, who are great, credibility, give them a match, give them an outing and showcase them in a championship match, I think that only benefits everybody.

“It benefits the audience because we have more women that we care about and more women that I can beat.

“I need people to come up. I need people on this level.

“But if nobody’s getting any TV time… if nobody’s getting any story time then they can’t rise up because nobody knows who the hell they are.”

Lynch confirmed she had requested the match with Nox that ended up being changed, and she also specifically named Zoey Stark, Indi Hartwell, Xia Li and Candice LeRae as women who have the potential to be elevated.

Instead of the planned match with Nox, Lynch retained the title over Natalya, and a week later, Nox herself actually beat Natalya, earning Nox a shot at the NXT Women’s Title on Raw two nights after Lynch defends it against Tiffany Stratton at No Mercy on September 30 – so it’ll be Nox challenging whoever wins that match.

Lynch also took a bit of a shot at WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley, saying Ripley “only likes hanging out with the lads (in Judgment Day) and doesn’t like getting hit… So that’s why I came along with my championship trying to give people some opportunities.”
