Beth Phoenix: ‘I Never Close Any Doors In Wrestling’

With the ‘Glamazon’ Beth Phoenix scheduled for a match at the 2022 Royal Rumble, could we see her in more matches in the future?

In speaking with Muscle and Fitness alongside real-life husband, Edge about their upcoming intergender tag-team match against another real-life married couple, The Miz and Maryse, Beth didn’t rule out more matches in the future, saying:

“I never close any doors in wrestling, because I don’t want to be called out as a hypocrite later when its like ‘you’ve retired like, five times!’ So, I feel great, I don’t have any injuries that prevent me from wrestling, I don’t know what the future brings but I do know that this moment … all I can worry about is this moment in time, and if this is my last match, what a way to go out than beside my husband, in front of my kids, you know, in a stadium, and the Royal Rumble is my favorite pay-per-view so it’s got a fairy tale written all over it”

Elsewhere in the interview, Beth noted that this match has an additional special element in that it will actually be the first that her children with Edge, ages five and eight, will be in attendance at the event to see their parents compete for the first time, together.

The Royal Rumble premium live event is scheduled to be held this Saturday, January 29 with major matches also announced elsewhere on the card including Seth Rollins challenging Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship, Bobby Lashley challenging Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship, Doudrop challenging Becky Lynch for her WWE Raw Women’s Championship and the titular Royal Rumble matches.
