Braun Strowman Opens Up About WWE Release WWE

Braun Strowman has opened up about his release from WWE in June 2021.

Strowman was one name in an exodus of wrestlers released from the company due to budget cuts.

In a recent interview with the Toronto Sun, Strowman reflected on this time, saying:

“It was a very hard pill to swallow because at the end of the day, I realized that I was put on this Earth to be a WWE Superstar.

“At first it was a big shock because it was like ‘Alright, what am I going to do now?’ I didn’t want to do anything else.”

The Monster Among Men described how he managed to take something positive from a bad situation.

He said:

“It was a nice opportunity to take a step back and appreciate what I had been blessed in life with and what I had done with this company in the first six years.

“If you look back, you name it, I did it. I won every title except one. I main evented every pay-per-view, I wrestled everybody under the sun, and I sold out every building on this Earth.

“And when you’re on the road every day in a different city, different country, different town, you kind of get blinders on and it’s just like driving on the autobahn at 200 miles an hour… you don’t realize what’s going on in life.

“So it was an awesome opportunity in a bad (situation) to take a step back and realize how blessed I truly was.”

Braun Strowman noted that the time allowed him to focus on his personal life and other projects.

While away from the ring, Strowman helped to launch a mental health app Diskuss with John Paul DeJoria and co-founder and chairman of ROKiT Group of Companies Jonathan Kendrick.

He explained why the project is important to him:

“I’ve had times in my life where I’ve been questioning why I am on this Earth and being depressed.

“And it didn’t help any being let go from your dream job. I used that negative energy to figure out a way to find a positive fuel and that was giving back to people around the world. I’m really proud of that.”

Strowman returned to WWE under the new regime headed up by Paul Levesque (Triple H) in September 2022.

He currently appears on SmackDown where he is currently feuding with Intercontinental Champion Gunther on SmackDown.
