On the October 28 episode of AEW Collision, it was revealed that Bryan Danielson had suffered an injury that would require surgery.
It was explained that the injury happened on AEW Dynamite, with Claudio Castagnoli saying that it was a “broken orbital bone.”
The main event of the October 25 episode of Dynamite saw Castagnoli team up with Danielson to take on Orange Cassidy & Kazuchika Okada.
After the match, medical staff checked on Danielson with Tony Khan later tweeting that the Blackpool Combat Club member had walked to the back under his own power.
Tony Schiavone on Collision commentary after Castagnoli’s comment stated that Danielson required surgery and will be out “until later this year.”
PWInsider has now clarified the nature of the injury and whether it was legitimate.
According to their sources, the injury is not part of a storyline.
While doctors checked on Danielson, members of Blackpool Combat Club checked on their comrade.
The Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent Beretta) also came down to the ring to check on Orange Cassidy – who seemingly isn’t injured – leading to a stare-down between both groups.
Cassidy will defend the International Championship against Castagnoli on Dynamite this week, with Danielson’s injury being brought up as part of the build to the match.
Danielson has recently spoken about his role in the creative process for AEW Collision.
