We have a new NXT North American Champion and his name is Carmelo Hayes.
In the main event of tonight’s (October 12) episode of NXT 2.0, Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott retained his championship against Santos Escobar after Hayes and Trick Williams fought off Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza.
Following the match, Hayes turned on Swerve and used his contract that he earned from winning the NXT Breakout Tournament to sanction a championship match against Swerve for right then.
Hayes would pin Swerve with a top rope diving leg drop to capture his first championship in WWE.
Swerve, along with the rest of Hit Row, are set to move to SmackDown once the post-draft rosters take effect on October 22.
