Current Champion Clarifies Ex-WWE Star Wearing Their Championship At Independent Show

Former WWE star Matt Cardona (Zack Ryder) caused a bit of a stir online last night, when he made an entrance for his match in DDT with a WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship around his waist.

Cardona’s wife, Chelsea Green, became one half of the champions on this week’s Raw, when her and Sonya Deville defeated Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez to win the championship for the first time.

Despite Cardona clearly wearing a replica and not the real title belt, some fans didn’t realise this and Chelsea has now posted a video to clarify the situation.

Chelsea confirmed that the belt Cardona entered with in Japan was just a replica of her title, and that the real title is still in her possession.

Cardona was backstage with Chelsea at this week’s episode of Raw, where she and Sonya captured the titles.

WWE management are said to be ‘optimistic’ about Chelsea and Sonya’s reign with the titles, believing they can help stabilize the women’s tag division.

Chelsea spoke at San Diego Comic Con, where she revealed she helped train Samantha Irvin to pronounce her name during her entrance.
