A big championship change took place on tonight’s (September 30) NXT No Mercy premium live event in Bakersfield, California.
‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio was originally slated to defend his North American Championship against Mustafa Ali on the show, but that match was cancelled after Ali was released from the company on September 21.
In his place, Trick Williams earned the right to face Dominik for the title at No Mercy on this week’s NXT show.
The match, which saw Dragon Lee serve as the Special Guest Referee, saw Trick Williams unseat Dirty Dom to win his first championship in WWE.
Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes spoke on the Kick-Off show about both holding championship gold.
Hayes is set to defend his NXT Championship in a rematch against Ilja Dragunov later on in the show.
Dominik is now the only member of the Judgment Day to not hold championship gold.
