Here’s what happened when Claudio Castagnoli challenged for Chris Jericho’s ROH World Championship at the Final Battle pay-per-view.
The bout notably had an important stipulation at play, with a loss meaning that Castagnoli would have to join the Jericho Appreciation Society.
The match started off at a high pace, with Jericho running into a running uppercut outside the ring.
Castagnoli immediately went to work, returning Jericho to the ring to continue the beatdown.
After a short flurry from Jericho, Castagnoli dropped the champion with a Neutraliser for a two-count.
Commentary was pretty biased throughout the bout, with Ian Riccaboni stating that he wants Castagnoli to ‘bring honor back’.
After some back and forth action, Jericho hit Castagnoli with a bat while the referee was distracted by Matt Menard and Angelo Parker of the Jericho Appreciation Society.
The official ejected the duo, before Claudio caught Jericho’s legs. Castagnoli trapped Jericho with his signature swing, before Jericho tapped to be freed from the swing.
New ROH Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta and wrestling veteran Jerry Lynn celebrated Castagnoli’s World Title victory in the ring.
