A new update has emerged on Kenny Omega’s AEW contract status, following Konnan’s recent comments about Omega’s AAA absence.
In a recent interview with Haus of Wrestling, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide booker Konnan stated that Kenny Omega was unavailable for this month’s TripleMania show as he didn’t want to commit to a show while negotiating a new deal with AEW.
Konnan noted that he assumes Omega re-signed with AEW, but hadn’t confirmed this with Omega.
Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Omega is still working under an AEW deal, with his original contract extended due to his in-ring hiatus due to injuries.
Stating that a new deal hasn’t been signed at the time of recording, Meltzer said:
“Konnan did an interview and it got people thinking that Kenny Omega had signed a new contract.
“Kenny Omega is under contract to AEW, his contract was extended because he was out for I think nine months due to injuries.
“I believe that he is under contract until around November/December. There is no new deal that’s been signed.”
