Claudio Castagnoli has revealed that he’d be interested in a match against Kazuchika Okada at a potential AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2 event.
Castagnoli made his AEW debut at Forbidden Door on June 26, defeating Zack Sabre Jr in singles action during the crossover show.
While doing media at Starrcast V, Castagnoli noted that if there’s a sequel event, he’d want to go one-on-one with the Rainmaker:
“I just pick Okada mainly because I’ve known Okada for over ten years actually, when he wrestled at CHIKARA. Me and Chris Hero had a house that a lot of the guys stayed at, including Okada, and then I saw him again when he was training in Mexico.
“I think I have a picture of me and him when I still had hair and when he was not ‘Rainmaker’ yet, so I think there’s definitely a lot of history there. So yeah, that would be one of many guys I would want to face.”
Okada was in action at Forbidden Door, part of the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship fourway bout.
Castagnoli is the current ROH World Champion, winning the gold from Jonathan Gresham at Death Before Dishonor. He recently defended the title against Konosuke Takeshita at AEW Battle of the Belts III.
