Report: CM Punk Pitched Himself To Be Added To Elite Vs. BCC Blood & Guts Match AEW

The third annual AEW Blood & Guts match is set to take place on the July 17 episode of AEW Dynamite in Boston, and will feature the Elite taking on the Blackpool Combat Club.

So far, both teams have been dealt blows, with the Elite unable to feature Eddie Kingston, who has become a key part of the feud, while the Blackpool Combat Club will be without Bryan Danielson for the match.

There are currently four members of each team, with the Elite’s team consisting of Kenny Omega, the Young Bucks and Hangman Adam Page, while the BCC’s team will feature Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta and Konosuke Takeshita.

With one member needed for each side, there are a lot of options to fill those roles, and one very interesting proposal was reportedly made.

Per Fightful Select (subscription required), CM Punk reportedly pitched for himself to be the fifth member of the Blackpool Combat Club’s team in Blood & Guts.

It’s not known whether Punk made the suggestion seriously or in jest, or whether he actually believed the offer would be accepted.

Punk has reportedly expressed desire to work with the Elite in the past, but he has said the he has been told that it ‘wasn’t happening’.

Punk went on record in his recent interview with ESPN saying that he had attempted to contact members of The Elite after All Out, but the response was letters from attorneys telling him not to. The two sides haven’t been able to interact since then.

One source told Fightful that ‘neither team would want him’.

In regards to issues between Punk and Moxley, Fightful was told that Moxley was not opposed to the idea, but as of two weeks before the show, the partners have already been determined.

On this week’s episode of Dynamite, Chris Jericho gave Don Callis a ‘maybe’ when asked if he would join up with his ‘family’ for the match.

As for the Elite’s side, AEW has reportedly reached out to Kota Ibushi to appear in the match, with him likely set to be the Elite’s fifth member.
