CM Punk Reveals WWE Injury Return Timeline

CM Punk Reveals WWE Injury Return Timeline WWE

CM Punk has revealed the timeline for his in-ring WWE return after tearing his triceps at the 2024 Royal Rumble.

After returning to the company at Survivor Series 2023, fans only got a single opportunity to see the Best in the World compete inside a WWE ring again before sadly facing an extended absence with injury.

While many are still disappointed with Punk missing out on his first WrestleMania in 11 years, we now at least have a solid idea as to when we can expect to see the former AEW star back in competition.

The WWE star was in attendance for last night’s UFC 298 event (February 17), and caught up with TNT Sports where he was asked a range of questions relating to WWE.

Most pressing of which perhaps was his return to the ring, with Punk revealing that they are planning for a return in “six to eight months”.

Punk revealed:

“Yeah, well, I’m a clumsy idiot. I tore my left tricep about two years ago. So, the right one was jealous. I’m like an old car.

“I’m like a 72 Nova, you know what I mean? We have to change some parts every now and again. So once we fix up all the parts, the engine is still strong. We’ll still be good to go.

“We’re thinking maybe six to eight months, but I’m not really in a rush to get back to compete. I’m in a rush to get healthy. I’m in a rush to get better. And the sooner I do that, the better. I’ll be when I come back.”

Before his injury, it was reported that Punk was set to finally receive his elusive WrestleMania main event against World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.

Earlier in the same interview Punk discussed this and spoke of those plans being derailed by his injury:

“You know, fingers crossed?

“Yeah, I was gonna headline WrestleMania. Obviously, now I’m not, but it’s sports.

“It’s what happens to athletes, mentally I think it’s harder because the physical pain is whatever, but I look at it just like a bump in the road.

“You know, this is an occupational hazard. It happens. And I’ll be back bigger and better.”

Despite being sidelined with injury Punk has still been seen on WWE TV, recently taking a seat on the WrestleMania 40 Kick-Off panel alongside Big E, Michael Cole and Pat McAfee.

The straight-edge star recently weighed in with a rather unorthodox pitch for the ongoing storyline between Cody Rhodes and The Bloodline on social media.
