CM Punk has shared his honest thoughts on The Rock’s WWE in-ring return in the main event of WrestleMania 40 Night One.
The Rock returned to the ring in the main event of Saturday’s WrestleMania show, teaming with Roman Reigns to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in just under 45 minutes.
This was The Rock’s first full match since WrestleMania 29 in 2013, if you don’t count his six-second victory over Erick Rowan at WrestleMania 32 in 2016.
Speaking on the ESPN post-show, CM Punk noted that he thought The Rock did well in his in-ring comeback.
The Rock’s former rival said:
“I thought he looked great. As being somebody who wrestled him ten years ago, the same questions were lobied around. Everyone wanted to know what he was going to look like, how his wind was going to be.
“While there is a giant difference between a tag match or coming back to wrestle the champion, I thought he did well tonight. I thought he looked really good. He won the match, what really can I say?”
The Rock notably feuded with CM Punk ahead of WrestleMania 29, with the Great One defeating Punk to win the WWE Championship and end Punk’s 434 day reign at Royal Rumble 2013.
CM Punk is set to appear at WrestleMania 40 Night Two, with the popular star to be on commentary for Seth Rollins’ World Heavyweight Title defence against Drew McIntyre.
Drew McIntyre has made a huge claim ahead of Sunday’s title bout, which you can read more about right here.
