Cody Rhodes finished his story in the main event of WWE WrestleMania 40 as he beat Roman Reigns after multiple surprise returns.
With the ‘Bloodline Rules’ stipulation known after Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins’ loss at last night’s WrestleMania 40 night one, the story was that the deck was stacked against Cody.
While there was a run-in from Jimmy Uso, he wasn’t able to help Roman for long as Jey Uso made his own run-in.
As the Usos fought up the ramp, it ended up that Main Event Jey Uso fully yeeted himself and Jimmy off the ramp and through tables below.
Back in the ring, Cody made a failed attempt at a roll up as the match continued after the fracas.
Next up to interfere, a Samoan Spike from Solo Sikoa after Rhodes hit two consecutive Cross Rhodes and was preparing for a third.
Despite the fact Sikoa dragged Roman’s motionless body on top of Cody to make the pin, instead Rhodes was able to kick out.
Enraging Solo Sikoa, he would come back and not only begin slapping around Cody but also yelled at Roman Reigns.
However after another failed attempt to pin, John Cena ran out to enter the fray!
Taking a beating to Solo Sikoa, John Cena would end up hitting an Attitude Adjustment on Roman Reigns and throwing Sikoa through the commentary table, but finally was interrupted by The Rock.
While The Rock would come face to face with John Cena, there would be yet another pair of run-ins.
Seth Rollins interrupted The Rock by making his Shield entrance but was immediately neutralized by Roman Reigns… but then another surprise emerged.
The Undertaker appeared and took out the Rock. With the lights going off, when they came back on both Taker and Rock were gone.
Cody Rhodes would somehow manage to battle back and get back into the fight.
After hitting three Cross Rhodes, Cody Rhodes would pin Roman Reigns and capture the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
Cody would go on to celebrate in the ring with his wife Brandi, his Mom, sister and a variety of WWE stars before asking Bruce Prichard and Triple H to join him in the ring.
