Cody Rhodes has said that the treatment of his wife Brandi following the pair’s AEW departure ‘pisses him off’.
Cody and Brandi Rhodes both left AEW in January 2022, with Cody going on to return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 that April.
A year later, Cody was in the main event of the show, where he came up short against Roman Reigns, failing to finish his story, with members of his family in the front row.
The event marked the first time since Cody’s return that Brandi had appeared on WWE TV, and she has since been firing shots at The Rock during his feud with Cody on social media.
Speaking on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Cody provided an update on the possibility of his wife appearing at this year’s WrestleMania event, and noting that the treatment of her following their departure from AEW ‘pisses him off’.
He said:
“I don’t know if involved is the right way to put it, wrestling is violent no matter how you look at it, I wouldn’t want her to be in that harm’s way, but I do think you will see Brandi at WrestleMania, and to me that will mean a lot.
“That woman got hugely scapegoated and hugely, just misinformation, and everyone knows who they are that was involved, and if ever there was a moment for her to feel like a princess and feel like somebody who did a lot more for wrestling, there’s so many people working for AEW, she was the one who said their name and wanted to keep them in the fold when something went wrong.
“How she was treated after the departure, and this was not by any company, just in general, it pisses me off to this day, and she had a great experience last WrestleMania, and I look forward to that because I couldn’t do this without her.”
