Cody Rhodes Discusses Travelling With Multiple WWE Championship Belts: ‘That’s One Of Those Champagne Problems… You’re Going To Miss It’

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has provided some insight on how the company tracks all of its championship belts.

WWE has multiple versions of each championship belt made, so the version of the WWE Championship you see around Cody Rhodes’ waist on SmackDown might not be the exact same physical belt as the one he wears on live shows, or the one he holds during TV interviews.

Speaking on the Rich Eisen Show, Rhodes explained that WWE uses barcodes to keep track of each belt which is out in the world.

Stating that he always wants to be the one holding every version of a championship belt currently in use, Rhodes explained:

“I carry the belt with me through all the airports. Also, WWE will always like to keep track of the belt. This is maybe a bit of ‘nobody knows’, but there are barcodes on the inside of the belts now to keep track.

“If there’s two of them floating out there, I make sure I have all two on me at all times. When you’re the champion, that’s got to be very real. You’ve got to carry that thing with you everywhere.

“You’ve got to talk to the guy running it through the X-ray and tell him about it. That’s fun, that’s one of those champagne problems that when you don’t have that extra weight in your bag, you’re going to miss it.”

Cody Rhodes will defend his WWE Championship against GUNTHER at the May 31 Clash In Italy premium live event.

With GUNTHER riding a wave of momentum after retiring John Cena and AJ Styles, and defeating Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 42, it would make sense for the Ring General to soon have the “champagne problems” of carrying the belts through airport security.
